Long term counselling for teenagers online

What to expect before we meet

The young person or their parent/guardian can call, message or email me to make an appointment. We will agree on a date, time and if they are happy to use the Zoom platform.
If so, I will email a link.
If not, we will explore different options such as having the session over Whatsapp or phone.

What to expect in the first session

The first session is free of charge and I invite at least one parent or guardian to be present for the first half of the session or the whole session if the teenager prefers. This session is intended for us all to get to know each other, see if we are a good fit to work together and what would be most helpful moving forward.
We go through our contract and agree on the administrative details of our working relationship with both the adult and teenager.
I explain my approach to counselling and expand on what you can expect. I also answer any questions you have.
I ask the adult present to share any concerns they have and then if the teenager is comfortable with it I ask the adult to leave the room so the teenager can talk freely about what brings them to counselling, about their goals, their needs and expectations. It’s okay if they are not clear yet. Sometimes therapy can help with exactly that.
At the end if everyone is happy to we book another appointment and I email both the adult and teenager the contract and some short forms to complete.

What to expect from the process

We will meet twice a week for as long as you need, whether that is a single month or 5 years.
We will sometimes discuss the mundane annoyances you face in everyday life and look at how you can manage them in the best way for you. And at times we will dig deeper to find the roots of the big struggles in your life and get you out of the vicious cycles you find yourself in.
I will not judge or dictate your actions, but aim to help you process your feelings, better understand yourself and find a path forward that is right for you.

Who is this option suitable for

  • 18 and over years old individuals
  • People who feel they really need a change in their way of living and circumstances but don’t know what they can do or where to even start
  • People who struggle with difficult feelings and emotions that rule their lives

Fees

  • £400 per month (approx. £48 per session)
  • Free initial introductory call
  • Includes 2 sessions per week; between 8 and 10 sessions a month depending on the month
  • The fee does not change for as long as the client is in therapy without breaks
  • Payable within the same week each month
  • I recommend monthly payments as this option reduces the inconvenience and discomfort from constantly having to keep track of payments and allows more focus on the important therapeutic work

Duration of session

50-55 minutes because often revelations come at the end and I feel it’s important to let the client finish their thought
